The Xbox Series X is a home video game console developed by Microsoft as part of the video game market's ninth generation. First released on November 20, 2020, the Xbox Series X was released as a successor to the Xbox One. Its primary competition are the PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch. An alternative, digital-only model, the Xbox Series S, is also available.
The Xbox Series X's launch was riddled by high demand, as well as a shortage of chips utilized to make the console and a large number of aftermarket scalpers. Similar issues plagued the launch of its direct competitor, the PlayStation 5, which itself launched within a week of the Xbox Series X.

Main article: List of Xbox Series X/S games
The Xbox Series X is capable of playing disc-based media, while its counterpart, the Xbox Series S, is not. It is also backwards compatible with most Xbox One titles, as well as several Xbox and Xbox 360 titles. Games released for both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X following the latter's launch have only a single physical copy released, with the disc allowing owners with access to both versions of the game so long as they have the respective console. These physical copies are simply marked as "Xbox" games.
Major titles released for the console include Halo Infinite, Elden Ring, Forza Horizon 5, Psychonauts 2, Grounded, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
