Pokémon Violet is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It was released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. It is the fifth new mainline Pokémon title for Nintendo Switch alongside its companion title, Pokémon Scarlet.
The title, alongside Scarlet, is the first in the franchise to feature an open world, which expands upon Pokémon Legends: Arceus' semi-open level design. The title has received praise for its new gameplay elements and focus on exploration, but has been faced with heavy criticism for its difficulty, graphics, and stability, with numerous severe glitches being reported upon launch. Despite this, it—alongside Scarlet—had the biggest launch in Nintendo's history.
