The PlayStation 4, also known as the PS4, is a home video game console created by Sony during the eighth generation of video game consoles. First released on November 15, 2013 in North America, the PlayStation 4 was the second major platform to release during the eighth generation, after the Wii U and before the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It is the best-selling console of the eighth generatio.

The PlayStation 4 received two other models, the PlayStation 4 Pro and the PlayStation 4 Slim, both released in 2016. All models are still in circulation as of 2021, except for in Japan, which is only currently selling the Slim model. The best-selling title on the system is Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Other major titles include Bloodborne, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us Part II, and Marvel's Spider-Man. On November 12, 2021, the successor to the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5, was released.
